St Alphege Place, Mell Square Solihull, UK
As part of the regeneration of Mell Square Shopping Centre in the centre of Solihull, Corstorphine & Wright have demolished 159-161 High Street and 517 Drury Lane to construct a new mixed use development comprising a ground floor Carluccio’s restaurant and three levels of upper floor offices.
Set within Solihull Conservation Area, the corner site acts as a gateway to Mell Square Shopping Centre. The new four storey building will create a striking, contemporary presence at this key town centre location, acting as a modern juxtaposition to the adjacent Georgian RBS building, yet respecting the historical building through the choice of scale materials.
The forward looking design echoes the future ambitions of Mell Square Shopping centre and is intended to act as a catalyst for future establishments to open and enliven the South East portion of Solihull Town Centre.
