The scheme sees the redevelopment and partial retention of the large existing SK Victorian industrial buildings to create a new, vibrant PRS development with 479 new apartments.
The striking retained facades will run the length of the 2 main elevations with comprehensive redevelopment of the industrial buildings behind.
A key aim of the scheme is to transform the hidden River Rea; which is currently inaccessible, into an open, active riverside walkway with cafes and restaurants. This new public walkway will reconnect the link between the adjacent Connaught Square development and Cheapside and link the site onto the wider improvements planned as part of regenerating the River Rea as a city wide asset. The scheme has been developed to accommodate the flood zone considerations creating a robust design that can accommodate the 150 year, climate change induced projected level change of the River.
The layout has been designed to focus around two south facing internal courtyards that have been landscaped to provide a focal point and private amenity space for all residents. Additional amenity space is located at ground floor, generating active frontages across the majority of the scheme with over 8,000 sq.ft of non-residential accommodation at ground level to support the local community.
