SeAH Wind Production Facility Redcar
SeAH Wind, an international pipe manufacturer and subsidiary of South Korea-based SeAH Steel, has appointed Corstorphine & Wright to deliver its new manufacturing facility in Redcar, UK.
The company will invest more than £200m ($271m) in the new development that will produce parts for wind turbines.
The facility, part of the Teesside’s Freeport, will sit on a 90-acre site adjacent to Teesworks’ £107million heavy-lift South Bank Quay. It will be formed of 7 buildings including new 3 storey 4,000sqft offices. The main production facility has a total footprint of 1.13million sq ft, measuring 40 metres in height which will redefine the Teesside skyline and stand as tall as Stockton’s Infinity Bridge at its peak – or ten double-decker buses.
Once completed, it will be the world’s largest monopile plant for offshore wind turbines.
The site will be able to produce between 100 and 150 monopiles per year creating 750 direct jobs at the new location and an additional 1,500 in the supply chain and during construction.
The first phase will be completed in 2023 and the site will become fully operational in 2026.
