NnG O&M Facility Eyemouth, UK
Corstorphine & Wright was appointed as lead consultants of a multi-disciplinary team to deliver a new Operations and Maintenance Facility for the new Neart na Gaoithe wind farm in the Firth of Forth.
The project was located on an exposed and physically constrained, yet prominent, site next to the existing harbour entrance, with the additional challenges of being within a conservation area setting.Â
C&W worked closely with the Client, Local Authority and Harbour Trust to design a building which not only fulfilled the operational requirements on a very tight site, but also responded to the historic context and features. We engaged in a public consultation as part of the design process and received unanimous support for the building design.
The facility provided 1,050sq.m of office accommodation and control rooms, and 530sq.m of warehouse storage with safe and secure access for vehicles and pedestrians, as well as direct quayside access to a basin for maritime transport.
Close coordination with the Harbour Trust was essential to allow existing operations to continue smoothly.
