Hoburne Farm Christchurch, Dorset
Corstorphine & Wright were commissioned to oversee the design for the refurbishment of an existing farm house, barn and stables, with six new contemporary units that compliment the traditional setting in Christchurch, Dorset.
The economic viability of the proposal and the visual and physical impact on the existing street front and surrounding context were major factors influencing the design. Corstorphine & Wright were then also appointed to develop the technical design and work with the design team oversee the construction making sure that the design intent was met.
Completed in Autumn 2019, the new dwellings are a modern interpretation of the neighbouring traditional barns. The design utilises minimal detailing, clean lines and large expanses of glazing to create the contemporary interpretation.
