Fossetts Farm is an ambitious redevelopment of Southend United Football Club’s training ground and surrounding spaces. Corstorphine & Wright has been appointed to design and deliver the first phases, which includes over 900 new homes as part of the wider Fossetts Farm development.

The wider 7 year masterplan includes a purpose-built 14,000-seat stadium for Southend United Football Club along with new homes, shops, restaurant, hotel, and accompanying training facilities for the Southend Football Club.

Residential Typologies

The residential led mixed use scheme places people at the heart of the scheme, introducing large amounts of green public spaces, a resident’s park, pedestrianised areas and 30% affordable housing allocation.

Throughout 7 blocks of accommodation, the team are delivering a mixed tenure development. Providing affordable homes through a joint venture with Southend Council in addition to the private sale homes.

The development will provide a mix of 1,2 and 3 bed new build apartments and 4 bed townhouses. Each apartment has access to private external amenity space, with the majority having private balconies . Those without have access to private landscaped courtyards or roof terraces. 

Blocks of accommodation step down in height to 3 storeys towards existing neighbours and an adjacent Schedule Ancient Monument (SAM), rising to 8 storeys towards the proposed football stadium. Material typologies allow for commonality across the different blocks with each character area enough to stand individually. Elevations facing existing green spaces are clad in timber and use a natural material palette to soften and blend into their contexts.

A single spine road affords residents access to each block which allows for large allowance of pedestrianised areas. This allows more amenity green spaces and a new park to create wellness and a community.

To further enhance the community and serve the needs of residents a medical centre, library, residents gym, cafe, numerous residents lounges, cinema rooms, offices and an Amazon Fresh shop.

Car parking is provided with plenty of EV charge points with a cycle space provided per apartment.
