We are pleased to announce that Leeds City Council Planning Committee voted unanimously to approve the redevelopment of Wray’s Building on Vicar Lane and Sidney Street in Leeds subject to a 106 Agreement. This milestone will mark a significant step in preserving and revitalising a key piece of the city’s architectural heritage.
The project, for our clients at Countrylarge Ltd, will sensitively restore the Grade II listed building, integrating contemporary residential spaces while maintaining its historic character.
Originally constructed around 1900, Wray’s Building is a striking example of neo-Jacobean architecture, featuring a distinctive red terracotta and brick facade. This redevelopment carefully balances historic preservation with modern functionality. Original architectural details—including windows, cornicing, and fireplaces—will be retained and restored, while the structure will be upgraded to meet contemporary living standards.
