We asked Matt to tell us about the projects he’s currently working on and which architects he most admires.
What inspired you to train as an architect?
Initially, I started studying architecture as it was a career which allowed me to further my interests in Art and Maths however, I later grew to appreciate the impact an architect can have on communities and people’s lives.
Which architect/s do you most admire and why?
I often refer back to David Chipperfield and Grafton Architects projects. I like the use of materials throughout both practice’s work, as well as how their buildings interact with the public realm.
What projects are you currently working on?
I’ve recently finished working on a residential development in Southampton city centre and am currently assisting on a residential scheme in Epping, Essex.
Do you have any advice for others preparing to take their Part 3 assessment?
Regular study sessions with other students were a great help. Each person has had a different experience in the industry and has something unique to offer, so drawing upon that experience is invaluable. Other than that, keep chipping away at the submissions as it’s easy to be overwhelmed.
