Corstorphine & Wright is thrilled to announce that our scheme on Averbury Boulevard, Westminster House, on behalf of Urban Village has been approved at Planning Committee by Milton Keynes City Council.
Milton Keynes is a highly connected city with access to culture, sport and nationally renowned attractions that this scheme is perfectly situated for future residents to take advantage of. The train station is only a 5-minute cycle ride away and Centre MK shopping centre easily accessible. Westminster House is a redevelopment and extension of a distinctive, city centre office building. In total, it will provide 237 high quality apartments with private and shared amenity spaces, including a centralised landscaped courtyard that becomes a focus for this community.
The team has developed a design that gives focus to supporting lifestyle, health and mental wellbeing. This is predominantly featured through an internal landscaped courtyard. This courtyard space already exists and is presently a covered atrium. With its roof removed, it will become a space for relaxation, exercise and community. Additionally, shared amenities such as a gym, cycle storage and private cinema room are proposed.
Throughout the design process, we developed several options for rooftop extensions that responded sympathetically to the existing architecture. The final design provides additional roof top amenity space and perimeter balconies that reflect the existing frontage and gives private balcony space to most units.
We are delighted that this gateway development has been approved by Milton Keynes City Council and look forward to seeing how the scheme progresses.
