As 2024 draws to a close, we’re looking back on what has been an extraordinary year for Corstorphine & Wright. This year has been one of collaboration and innovation across Projects, People, and our Practice. Here’s a glimpse of what we’ve achieved.
Corstorphine & Wright projects had a great year. We have celebrated an impressive number of planning consents over the past 12 months including:
– The Grafton Centre, Cambridge
– The Garnet Exchange, Leeds
– The Rob Burrow Centre, Leeds
– Selly Oak PBSA, Birmingham
– Lordship Lane, Wood Green
– Market Street, Nansledan
– Beatties, Wolverhampton
– 100 Church Street, Leicester
– Grove House Care Village
– APEX Logistics & Manufacturing Hub, Mansfield
– Longcross Court, Cardiff
– Coney Street, Leeds
– Cooks Lane, Totton
We also secured places on several key frameworks including:
– York College DPS,
– Thirteen Housing Group DPS
– GPA Capital Frameworks
– Guy & St Thomas DPS
– BHCC DPS
– Northwards Housing Framework
– As well as being the only Architecture Practice on the Southern Construction Framework.
Completed schemes like The Carmarthenshire Custody and Llanelli Police Station, The Bunker, Oakley Grove, and The Scoop Union Street have been recognised for design excellence, with the latter named one of Dezeen’s Top 10 Projects of 2024.
Our brilliant team continues to shine:
Toby Ingle was appointed to join the NLA Expert Healthcare Panel for 2024, a position he will retain during 2025.
Rav Kumar became one of the first UK architects to enrol on the RIBA Principal Designer Register for high-risk buildings, with more colleagues following including Alistair Milne (CIAT), Josh Skyes, Mark Jeffreys, Paul Hughes and Phi Kitson-Evans.
Internal promotions for our talented team included Lucy Lester being made Head of Housing, Chris McCurtin, Dan Crann, John O’Brien, Erica Helmetag Coles and Toby Ingle becoming Directors, and Ed Baverstock joining the board as a Group Director.
Our colleagues came together outside of work too – running marathons, baking, playing football, sleeping outside and raising over £6,500 for MND with a 3 Peaks Challenge involving 39 team members and friends.
Our people have been recognised across the industry:
– Matthew Usher was shortlisted for a G4C North East Future Leader Award.
– Rebecca Godden was named in the Mix 30 Under 30.
– Muneebah Shaheen was shortlisted for the NPH Ethnic Minority Powerlist.
As a Practice, Corstorphine & Wright has grown stronger than ever:
– We climbed to #13 in the AJ100 rankings and #46 in the Top 150 Consultants.
– The fantastic team from Brightspace joined Corstorphine & Wright in June to form our Central South studio in Fordingbridge.
– Our Digital Design Team achieved Kitemark & ISO 19650 certification.
– We celebrated community and culture through events like sponsoring Canterbury Pride, hosting an evening at the London Festival of Architecture, and our all-practice summer party in Warwick.
– Our Manchester and Newcastle studios had exciting relocations reflecting our growing portfolio and team.
We’re also thrilled to continue our partnership with Nyami Studio into 2025, fostering creativity and collaboration.
