Corstorphine & Wright is delighted to share that the Gresham Masterplan has officially received planning approval from the Middlesbrough Development Corporation Planning Board, marking a major milestone in the transformation of this key site in the heart of Middlesbrough.
The masterplan is a bold and ambitious vision for the regeneration of a long-derelict area, and forms part of the Tees Valley Combined Authority’s wider ambitions for economic growth and environmental improvement.
The £200 million development, brought forward in collaboration by Middlesbrough Development Corporation (MDC), Buccleuch Property, and iMpeC promises to reshape the towns landscape, creating a vibrant, sustainable community, and includes:
- A new hotel
- 240 build-to-rent homes
- 400-bed student accommodation
Key Design Drivers for the scheme have been:
- Wider regeneration that reinstates the historic urban fabric of Gresham
- Green infrastructure forming a key east-west link between the site and the adjacent Teesside University
- Mix of commercial, residential and PBSA promoting regeneration
- Reference to the historic Jewel Streets
