October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and is a cause very close to the heart of many of our Corstorphine & Wright colleagues.
To show our support, Kavita Dhande and Mark Tolley encouraged studios to host bake sales. Bakers from across the practice put on their aprons and brought in some delicious treats for us all to enjoy. As well as the bake sale, we hosted a ‘Wear it Pink’ Day which is one of the biggest fundraising events in the UK and supports one of the largest breast cancer charity Breast Cancer Now.
2021 is the 20th year that we’ll all be wearing it pink, with over £36 million raised since 2002. Together, we can go even further and raise even more money for the people affected by this disease. – Breast Cancer Now
We are delighted with the response that these fundraising efforts have had and extremely proud to be able to donate £833 to date to Breast Cancer Now. These donations will contribute to the research of 80 projects currently working towards preventing breast cancer, saving lives, and helping people live beyond the disease. Thank you to everyone who baked, ate and donated.
We’re also pleased to have donated £1000 to Future Dreams, a breast cancer charity that is very special to some of our Corstorphine & Wright colleagues. Future Dreams Breast Cancer Charity offers practical and emotional support as well as funding vital research and promoting breast awareness.
We encourage everyone to regularly self-examine and contact your GP if you notice anything different or suspicious. Although rare, breast cancer can affect men as well as women, so it’s worth learning what to look out for.
