We are proud to announce three internal Director promotions. Please join us in congratulating Chris McCurtin on his promotion to Director, Dan Crann on his promotion to Technical Director and John O’Brien on his promotion to Design Director.
Chris McCurtin
Chris joined Corstorphine & Wright in 2014 as a Part 2 Architectural Assistant and has worked in our London and Warwick Studios. Over the last 10 years, he has played a key role in the evolution of our Student Living Sector. He is renowned for his attention to detail, project commerciality and unwavering commitment to every scheme he works on.
Chris has proven himself to be a brilliant mentor to both those in his team internally within the Practice and externally, regularly undertaking crits and end-of-year reviews for Coventry, Derby, Nottingham and Lincoln Universities.
Daniel Crann
Dan joined the Practice in our Stourbridge Studio as an apprentice aged 16. Showing a maturity beyond his years he progressed rapidly, becoming our youngest Associate Director in 2019. Dan’s technical knowledge is superb and recognised by him being one of CIAT’s youngest Fellows. Not only does Dan have the skills to foster strong contractor-client relationships and project manage multiple schemes simultaneously, but he also finds the time to be a brilliant mentor to his colleagues.
Alongside his fellow Technical Directors, Dan will continue to develop the technical standards across all Studios, ensuring we maintain our reputation for delivering high-quality, buildable designs.
John O’Brien
John joined Corstorphine & Wright in 2019 and has since been instrumental in developing the design ethos of the Practice. His high standards of design have by osmosis influenced the culture of the Birmingham Studio and he is respected throughout the Practice for his design integrity.
His enthusiasm for good design has helped to establish our model-making workshops and the wider group development of model-maker champions. John is an exceptional mentor and very supportive of the junior team members and emerging designers, helping them to develop their design skills.
