Michael’s career history perfectly positions him to take control of the current South East based clients and affords him the opportunity to forge new relationships with other industry leaders in the capital.
After starting with AHR in 1989, 10 years later, Michael was appointed Partner aged just 32. His early career included a wide variety of projects in the retail, residential, commercial, health and transport sectors. Most notable during this period was the design and delivery of the European Logistics Centre in the Netherlands for Amgen, the world’s largest independent biotechnology firm.
For many years Michael served on the main Board at AHR and led on business development initiatives and the Transport sector group. In addition, he spent several years running projects in the Middle East, with a particular focus on Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates.
Today in his new Corstorphine + Wright Director role, Michael will channel his expertise through the practice’s specialisms in commercial and residential whilst also continuing to build the portfolio of public sector work, supporting current clients and generating new design and development opportunities.
On what’s to come for his new role, Michael said:
“I shall continue the great work already started in building the practice’s reputation as one of fastest growing and most agile in the UK, and demonstrate to stakeholders our commitment to design excellence and just as importantly resilience. My appointment was made during lockdown which reflects the great strength of the practice and its ability to face and embrace change. We are a highly skilled practice and I’m very pleased to join the Corstorphine + Wright team”.
Michael and Corstorphine + Wright’s Group Director Michael Lampard are also former AHR colleagues, after first meeting in the mid 90’s.
Michael Lampard said: “I have always followed Michael’s work with a keen interest in both his domestic and international projects. Michael is undoubtedly a great asset to our team and blends creative thinking with remarkable design skills”.
Always maintaining a base in the UK, Michael has been an avid traveller for both business and pleasure. His appreciation for the arts has taken him to many galleries and exhibitions, scattered across the globe, from which he draws inspiration and can be found translated into his work.
