The Sidings Waterloo, London
The Sidings is a new 130,000 sq ft retail and leisure space located underneath Waterloo station.
Appointed by LCR, Corstorphine & Wright designed the redevelopment of the redundant Eurostar Terminal to create new retail, restaurant and leisure uses putting the Waterloo area firmly on the map as a real London destination.
The redevelopment reuses an award-winning building, which had been closed since Eurostar services moved to St Pancras in 2007, to deliver modern retail and station facilities that complement the existing facilities at Waterloo International. The site comprises the former Eurostar departures, arrivals and car parking levels underneath platforms 20 – 24 and the scheme sits alongside Network Rail’s work to bring these platforms back in to regular use to enhance capacity at Waterloo, theUK’s busiest station.
Our design strategy has activated redundant street frontages and improved the public realm and connectivity, providing a range of bars, shops and cafes, as well as an immersive theatre experience.
The Sidings includes links to the leisure development at Leake Street Arches (also by Corstorphine & Wright) via the Leake Street Tunnel, strengthening the offer by making it part of the wider regeneration of the area.
The Sidings opened to the public in summer 2022.
