The Cotgrave Hub Nottingham, UK
The Cotgrave Hub is a brand new, state-of-the-art Health and Community facility located in the heart of the borough of Rushcliffe.
As part of an extensive redevelopment of the local area, the new building brings together a GP Primary Care Centre, Library, a Police Station for Nottinghamshire Police and Town Council Offices all under one roof.
The main objective was to create a multi-functional building with one front door.
Although identity and autonomy were required, security was paramount, particularly for the Police.
A shared main entrance, forming ‘a street’ from which different parts of the building could be accessed was successfully achieved and the building was able to be shuttered down to create pockets of space with independent access enabling differing opening hours and operational requirements.
It has enhanced communication and encouraged the sharing of information and technology, particularly across the medical and the library functions.
The building formed part of a wider regeneration scheme, which included urban spaces and refurbished and repurposed retail precinct, therefore architectural synergy was required to compliment the town centre itself.
