Moray East Offshore Windfarm O&M Building Fraserburgh, UK
Corstorphine & Wright was appointed as lead consultants of a multi-disciplinary team to deliver a new Operations and Maintenance Facility for the new Moray East wind farm in the Moray Firth.
The project is located on a physically constrained, yet prominent site. The site falls from Shore Road to the harbour and the boundary onto Shore Road follows a gentle curve. A 2 storey office follows the curvature of the site boundary. Windows are provided on all 3 elevations, with large format windows looking out over the Harbour South and East. The warehouse is designed maximise the coverage on the site, the elevation to Shore Road follows the boundary line creating a serrated detail which extends up and over the roof, creating a saw tooth detail which reads as an elegant silhouette. Natural diffused light is allowed to enter the building vertically and horizontally.
Elevations are articulated with generous expanses of glazing, offering views of activity inside and capitalising on the views across the Harbour. The material palette is restrained to three elements: a dark grey masonry base, with lighter stucco embossed standing seam cladding to the Warehouse volume and white render to the office element with a projecting feature clad in zinc.
The facility will provide 1,370sq.m of office accommodation and support facilities, and 420sq.m of warehouse storage with safe and secure access for vehicles and pedestrians, as well as direct quayside access to berthing for a 30 Berth SOV and 12 – 15 person CTV.
Every project starts with a conversation.
Let’s discuss your opportunities, constraints and questions.
