Corstorphine & Wright and our client Trebor Developments achieved unanimous planning consent for a major new manufacturing and research scheme in Newport, Wales during 2022. Since officially exchanging contracts in the new year, the project is now on site and making excellent progress.
This new state-of-the-art scheme will include offices as well as manufacturing, research, and development facilities.
Following several highly successful collaborations, Corstorphine & Wright was appointed by Trebor to review and redesign an existing proposal by another architect. By putting the manufacturing process as the main driver behind the new design, Corstorphine & Wright was able to produce a more efficient and cost-effective layout. The efficient movement of personnel and the client experience through the building were a key element of the revised design Employee wellbeing, another key driver to the scheme, has been delivered through the incorporation of quality outdoor landscape and amenity spaces paired with a gym, break out and canteen facilities internally.
The manufacturing hall contains sub-fab and clean rooms to the west, moving into stores and logistics at the east. This is all clad within a simple portal frame structure. These spaces are then cloaked by glazed, curtain walled offices which has given the high end ‘headquarters’ aesthetic desired whilst also ensuring great connection between the offices and manufacturing hall.  Full height glazing will contribute to the engaging design and complement the copper framed main entrance.
The demand for such facilities in the UK is at an all-time high, and we are proud to be at the forefront of delivering such schemes.
